KulturSYDhavn Programme (Schedule of times and activities below)
Schedule is subject to change without notice, we’ll update as often as we can!
KulturSYDhavn will take place on and around the illutron barge from the 6 - 8 of August, 2010. Throughout these days, many installations will be running including:
Tug of War: One half of the rope is in the Sydhavn quay, and one half in Islands Brygge; as players pull on their end, the other end reacts remotely, and the winning team sets off the fire canon. At each site, the end of the rope not being pulled will be in the water, giving the impression of going to the other area.
Interactive Lights: Turn the knobs to change the color of the lights - in remote locations! Affect lights at Islands Brygge from Sydhavn and vice versa!
The Fleet of Floating Islands: Take a boat ride back and forth between Kulturhavn at Islands Brygge and the illutron barge at Sydhavn to experience amazing worlds contained in tiny islands.
Dangerous Playground: An interactive playground with unexpected interactions:
- Hairdryers that are dipped into bathtubs to create sound - Working?
- Light sockets you stick your finger into to create music
- Sound and light monoliths, responding to the playground with interactive lighting
- High voltage cables that respond to touch and pulling
- Street lights that are turned on by touch
- Metal plates that react to jumping, three areas are the ‘jump zones’ and result in music and sounds when jumped on.
A see saw with a life of it’s own: Correcting for weight distribution when people are riding it, the see saw caters to those who much lighter than their riding partners. When no one is riding, the see saw entertains itself.
Slackline: An interactive slackline, responsive to how you move on the line and how balanced you are.
Sail-in Cinema: A beautiful water based drive-in movie theatre, featuring Sirens serving
temptations in the form of popcorn and candy.
Fire Fountain: On top of the illutron barge, a fire fountain creates a truly spectacular scene of fire and energy, responding to the guests below.
Fire Cannons: Not for the faint of heart, a huge blast of fire jettisoned into the sky, a special occasion throughout the weekend.
Water Organs: A musical interactive experience, moving water organs in and out of the water to create harmonious sounds using only an old vacuum and tubing. The water organ works by moving it up and down to different depths in the water and hearing the resulting musical sounds.
Artist cafe: The lower deck of the barge will be transformed into a cafe on the water, providing coffee and conversation for those interested. Illutron artists will be enjoying a coffee and will welcome discussions with everyone. We will also offer a Kayak cafe, where people can enjoy the same discussions, in kayaks!
Gathering at the fireplace: Four fire baskets hang over the side of the barge, reflecting off the water and providing a beautiful warmth in the summer evening, enjoying a fire hanging in mid-air.
Hydrophones: Three hyrdophones are placed in the water which can hear when stones are dropped into the water. The sounds of the stones, depending on where they land, are transmitted to speakers on the shore.
Underwater vision: An underwater camera that sits on the bottom of the harbor, and transmits images to a screen onboard the barge. People can view the harbor floor while they visit the barge.
Bubbles: An air compressor pumps air into the water, which is lit by underwater lighting from below, creating a beautiful interactive element wherein people can set off the bubbles and see the results, a beautiful moment in the water.
Chill-out zone: A relaxing area to take in some sunshine or some shade, and enjoy a cold beverage while observing the fun and interaction going on around the quay and the barge.
DJs and Parties and VJs: Join us Friday night for a fantastic show of lights and sound as four DJs from SUMERU team up with our VJ team, the TELLY ZOOMS to provide fantastic visuals and invigorating beats. The barge becomes a blank slate, transformed by the visuals and the inside of the barge, the cargo room is transformed into a glow-in-the-dark paradise!
Pyramid on the water: A pyramid that listens to the sounds of the water, throw a rock near it or at it, and it will amplify the sounds of the water as the rock drops into the waves below.
±Pole by Ishac Bertran: an interactive installation presenting a tangible interface which allows multiple users to play with groups of particles and polarised elements. By placing wood blocks on the table, users have control over the digital elements on a projected surface.
